*SLS vs SLES

Despite how similar they sound (and how confusing the short hands are for them!) there’s a big difference between Sodium Laureth Sulfate (in Bio D products, SLES for short) and Sodium Lauryl Suflate (not in Bio D products, SLS for short).

SLES and SLS are both surfactants added to products to create cleaning action by allowing water molecules to attract dirt/grease/stains and be washed away water during rinsing.

SLES is derived from SLS but has undergone a process called ethoxylation. This process means that SLES is gentler to skin and will not aggravate skin or strip it of any moisture unlike SLS.

The Bio D SLES is derived from a combination of palm and coconut oil which is RSPO certified.
